Accurate position detection is important for ensuring stable operation in automated gripping applications. FOUK pneumatic grippers use magnetic proximity sensors to monitor different working positions by detecting the position of the internal magnet.
By adjusting the sensor installation position according to the magnetic sensing distance, users can set reliable detection signals for opening, workpiece gripping, and empty grip conditions.
Inside the pneumatic gripper cylinder, a built-in magnet moves together with the gripping mechanism. The magnetic proximity sensor detects the magnet’s position and provides feedback signals for different pneumatic gripper states.
Proper sensor adjustment ensures that the signal is triggered at the correct position while avoiding unstable detection caused by excessive sensing distance.

First, install the magnetic sensor and adjust the open-position signal.
1. Supply air to the pneumatic gripper.
2. Close the pneumatic gripper and then open it completely to confirm the fully open position.
3. Adjust the sensor on the right side, which is responsible for open-position detection.
Move the sensor downward slowly until the indicator light just turns on. Then continue moving the sensor approximately 1 mm further to keep it within a safe sensing range.
After fixing the sensor position, check the signal:
l When the pneumatic gripper is closed, the sensor light should remain off.
l When the pneumatic gripper is fully open, the sensor light should turn on
l If the signals work correctly, the open-position sensor adjustment is complete.

Next, adjust the sensor for workpiece gripping detection.
1. Place a workpiece into the pneumatic gripper.
2. Allow the pneumatic gripper to clamp the workpiece securely.
3. Adjust the gripping-side sensor in the same way as the open-position sensor.
4. Move the sensor downward until the indicator light just turns on, then continue adjusting approximately 1.5 mm to ensure a stable sensing range.
Fix the sensor position and perform a function test.
After completing the adjustment, verify all operating conditions:
When the pneumatic gripper is fully open:
l The right-side open detection sensor receives the signal.
l The indicator light turns on.
When the pneumatic gripper is holding a workpiece:
l The left-side gripping detection sensor receives the signal.
l The indicator light turns on.
When the pneumatic gripper is operating without a workpiece:
l Neither sensor detects a signal.
l Both indicator lights remain off.
This confirms that the empty grip detection function is working correctly.

Correct adjustment of the magnetic proximity sensors helps the pneumatic gripper achieve accurate position feedback and reliable operation. By setting the proper sensing distance, users can ensure stable detection of open, gripping, and empty grip conditions in automated production systems.
