Daily Maintenance Guide for Parallel Pneumatic Grippers and Three-Finger Pneumatic Grippers

Aug. 18, 2026

Daily Maintenance of Pneumatic Grippers

It is recommended to clean the surface of the pneumatic gripper every day using a clean cloth or compressed air to remove oil, dust, and debris.

Monthly Maintenance of Pneumatic Grippers

Under normal operating conditions, lubrication maintenance is recommended every 4 weeks. When the gripper is used in harsh environments, such as areas with high levels of dust or high temperatures, the maintenance interval should be shortened accordingly.

Maintenance Steps:

1. Remove the middle cover plate and the grease port screw. Use an air gun or other suitable tools to remove any internal contaminants from the gripper.

2. Apply grease directly through the grease port on the side of the housing to lubricate the metal sliding surfaces. DuPont TP42 grease is recommended.

Note: If another type of grease is used, all existing grease must be completely removed before applying the new grease.

Annual Maintenance of Pneumatic Grippers

Under normal operating conditions, a complete maintenance service is recommended once a year. This includes cleaning all internal components, inspecting parts for damage, replacing worn components if necessary, replacing sealing kits, and applying grease.

Notes:

1. If another type of grease is used, the original grease must be completely removed before applying the new grease.

2. When the gripper operates in harsh environments, such as high-dust or high-temperature conditions, the maintenance interval should be shortened accordingly.

Steps for Removing and Maintaining Pneumatic Grippers

1. Loosen the fixing screws of the push plate, then remove the push plate and push plate spring.

2. Loosen the fixing screws of the middle cover plate and remove the middle cover plate.

3. Loosen the fixing screws of the bottom cover plate and separate the bottom cover plate.
(The thread-locking adhesive may need to be heated to soften before removal. Some screws may include anti-drop washers, which should be kept safely.)

4. Remove the screws and slowly pull the cylinder piston out of the housing.
(Keep the piston vertical during removal to avoid scratching the guide surface.)

5. Press the push shaft out of the housing.

6. Remove the slider from the housing.

7. Remove the old sealing rings and clean the sealing grooves.

8. Apply grease to the new sealing rings and install them, ensuring they are fully seated in the grooves.(Use an installation tool if necessary. Do not stretch the sealing rings directly.)

9. Apply lubricant to all lubrication points, including:

l Metal sliding surfaces (DuPont TP42 grease)

l All sealing rings

l Cylinder surfaces (DuPont 55 O-ring grease)

10. Reassemble the gripper according to the assembly drawing. Manually move the gripper fingers to confirm smooth operation.

Installation Position of the Magnet Inside the Piston

l The magnetic pole direction must match the sensor requirements.

l After installation, the magnetic field strength should be checked and verified.

l The magnet must be installed inside the piston groove and aligned with the sensor detection area.

l When replacing the magnet, use non-magnetic tools to prevent damage or displacement.

Important Precautions

l Do not use sharp tools to directly contact or damage the sealing ring edges.
